Christ in wrapping paper . . .

I once created an icon of Jesus surrounded by wrapping paper and all the trinkets of the season. Some loved it while others were aghast. "Horrors!" "What sacrilege, especially now . . . at Christmas!" "HOW COULD YOU?" And yet here he lovingly sits, looking out unjudgementally central to all the hullabaloo (the colorful wrapping, gift-giving, and overdone happiness) as if to say, "Hey, I'm here amidst all of this. If I can take it, can't you?"
